The Music Royalty Co (MRC), founded by Ray Bush in 2015, was born from a desire to simplify the royalty processing and admin for Record Labels, Publishers, Distributors, Managers - anyone who needs to onward report royalties related to music copyrights. They are a collective of industry experts, brought together to provide an outstanding backend service, offering a wide variety of services, from producing detailed royalty statements and handling all accountancy needs, to providing brilliant administration of catalogue for neighbouring rights.
MRC’s ethos towards data mirrors that of Curve’s – transparency, speed and simplicity is imperative to their success. They pledge to provide a clear picture, informing their clients future plans, saving them money and leaving them free to focus on the creative side of their business. Reliable and powerful royalties software is essential for MRC’s business to scale, but until they discovered Curve it was not something they found easy.
Key Challenges
MRC has tried numerous royalty management systems (“We’ve been through every system on the planet!” Ray Bush), but over the course of three years grew increasingly frustrated at their failings – slow, convoluted, poor service, sluggish - just some of the words used to describe life before Curve.

Not least because Ray helped build and design the Curve dashboard – so completely fed up with anything else available on the market. This initiative to help create the dream system paid off, and neither Curve nor MRC has looked back.

The Solution
The big success story for MRC, driven by Curve, is in the efficiency and service they can now offer their clients. Old system data ‘runs’ were manual and took a few days; with Curve they are beating competitor times hands down, showing results in a few hours.
This in turn has made their business scalable. They take on between thirty and forty new clients per period, which used to mean a huge increase in staff costs. Now the Curve system quite literally does the leg work, meaning an increase in clients does not equate to an increase in bottom line expenditure.
And because the Curve system is cloud based, all MRC clients can log in and have complete control over their royalties; being able to see that they are being managed efficiently but knowing that MRC is doing all the ‘heavy lifting’, freeing them up to “focus on the creative side of their business”, something that MRC pledged from the beginning and now can confidently guarantee.
Ray reports the service he receives from Curve is first-class.
