Curve Launches Online Course: Royalties 101 - Publishing
Today we are proud and happy to present Royalties 101 - Publishing.
For people entering the industry, understanding the publishing industry context is like solving a rubik's cube. It seems impossible at first, and with every step you take that seemingly brings you closer to the solution, a whole new array of questions arises. However, all one needs is a bit of guidance which breaks down the context in just a few easily digestible steps. Whilst we admittedly do not know how to solve a rubik's cube, we do have experience working in the music publishing industry. So, today, we launch Royalties 101, a guide which holds all the information we wish we knew when we just entered this industry.
Royalties 101 is freely accessible as an online course for you to reference at your own pace and to test your knowledge with some questions at the end of every chapter. From the origin of copyright to collection societies, registering works to royalty reporting and everything in between - we will cover it in Royalties 101 for Publishing. These are the different chapters we cover in the course:

Tom Allen, co-founder and CEO of Curve Royalty Systems: "Knowledge of the different rights within music is such an important thing for everyone in this industry to understand, but something that isn't taught when most of us start our first jobs, and we just piece it together as we go. Our aim here was to put together a really comprehensive guide to the rights around publishing, and how they relate to royalty accounting, and to make this freely available so everyone can benefit."
